Offering an absolutely stunning large 13.5 German Santa Candy Container dating to the early 1900s. This all-original authentic early Santa is rare and unusual and will stand out from the traditional Santas in a collection.
His unique RED & GREEN coat is the epitome of Christmas and the green trim is particularly lovely a faded forest green with hues of blue. His rope belt is darkened from age being over 100 years old.
He stands on his wood platform base that is stamped GERMANY underneath. This Santa holds his feather tree in his left handmaking him EVEN MORE RARE! Its a fact that the majority of Santas are designed to hold their feather trees in their right hands, so this guy is not ordinary in any way.In his right hand he holds a fine gold tinsel sack holding three glass balls. The sack is early Victorian just like the Santa itself. Tucked under his arm is a hard-to-find tiny, colorful, antique Christmas Holly box. Santa has a beautiful face with a serene expression, gorgeous hand-painted blue eyes, and other facial details such as his forehead creases, crows feet near his eyes, and lines around his eyes making him so expressive. His beard is made of rabbit fur and in excellent condition.
His head, hands, and boots are all made of composition. His candy container is in excellent condition and opens and closes well. Overall Excellent, strong and sturdy condition. Minor age-related wear includes: Santas right hand has a flea bite on the thumb and tip of the index finger as seen in photos. His boots have a very old minor repair and his left hand has a hairline across the top and there is general minor surface soiling to the hands and coat. His feather tree is in very good condition. To sum it up this Santa is downright exceptional and extremely well-made for the discerning collector of early Victorian Christmas!See all photos that describe this amazing Santa best.
