RARE ANTIQUE GERMAN RED & GREEN ANIMAL PULL TOYS WITH WHEELS c1900
RARE ANTIQUE GERMAN SET OF TWO ANIMAL PULL TOYS. Offering a rare and unique pair of German pull toys on wheels in wonderful RED and GREEN!
They are a darling set including a red elephant and a green cow. BOTH ARE MARKED "Made in Germany" on their belly and they date to the early 1900s. They are perfect toys to display with your Santas! They stand 5 inches tall by 6 inches wide.
They're made of a lightweight composition with stick legs and tin wheels, and each is covered in lovely wool felt with glass eyes. Their tin wheels are all intact with some age darkening. This adorable green cow has wooden horns painted red, red wool ears, and a painted pink muzzle, and a long felt tail. He is wearing his original collar. The super cute elephant has wooden tusks painted white, yellow felt ears, her original leather harness with metal stubs, and a rabbit fur tail.
Both are a rare and darling set. I've never seen another like them anywhere in my travels and they are also such a cute small cabinet size! These gorgeous animals are in very good to excellent antique condition. They have typical fading to their felt, minor soiling, the white paint is partially worn on the elephant's tusks and the felt shows a small separation at the seam of her trunk on the left side and could use some glue, otherwise, she is in excellent condition.
The cow is in great condition! I only noticed that his left hind leg feels less stiff that the other legs when you touch it, so you just don't want to tug at it, otherwise, he's in great shape being strong and stable like his elephant friend.
