Update: I found a clock that is a suitable replacement for the original. The replacement clock is the proper shape, and appears to have some age to it, but is not exactly like the originals that I've seen.
This clock can hang with a small hook onto the'rope' draped around the figure's shoulder and really does a great job of completing him. This is an incredible tinplate sculpture toy from the mid 19th century. Issmayer began making these large tinplate figures in the late 1840's, and presumably continued until the 1860's, decades before they made any toy trains.I included photos from their masterbook from that era with examples of their other figures. The craftsmanship and detail are amazing and these do not turn up often. The coat and neckerchief are tinplate but look just as if they could be real fabric.
This particular figure is of a German clock salesman. His hat brim is a little damaged but he is in complete original condition with no touch-up or repairs etc. He stands at 14 and has a great presence. His age and amazing craftsmanship make him a very special piece. Please take a close look at the photos for condition and message me with any questions.
