Louis Marx started the company with his brother David in 1919 and produced a plethora of typically "tin type" toys i. Including train sets until WWII. After the war he got into the "plastic" revolution and the molded figure business. Originally 60mm size figurines of amazingly realistic medieval figures, politicians, historical warriors, Western TV show characters, and later Disney storybook figures were produced for children. Later sizes were adjusted to 54mm and then to HO scale, mainly to cut down on the cost of play sets.
Marx's figures were available in dime stores and Christmas catalogs of famous retailers Sears, Montgomery Ward, J. Into the mid 1960's. He produced his toys in three main factories in the eastern US, with others in. None of his four children were interested in succeeding him and continuing the business. The last Marx factory closed its doors in 1979, and all its assets were liquidated in the early 1980's. Louis Marx died in 1982 at 85.This figure of "Sir Winston Churchill", Britain's Prime Minister during WWII, is listed as "NEW", and is in beautiful condition, with no signs of wear. It is truly a "Hard To Find" item.
The photos are a critical part of the Condition Description. He figure is "loose" and will be packed very carefully, enclosed in bubble wrap, and quickly sent in a new cardboard box.
